A bit on me…

I live in Salt Lake City, Utah on a .36 acre lot (biggest lot I could find for the $). I’m a stay-at-home Mom with a toddler and a serious gardening habit – I love to grow stuff. In the late ’90’s I attended Prescott College and majored in Environmental/Outdoor Education. Life happened and I left one semester short of graduation – ouch! Thirteen years later and I am finishing that last semester – my senior project – in which I am applying the principles of permaculture* to my urban lot (and to a certain extent my family’s life).

About the blog..

I love reading other people’s blogs – I get a ton of gardening ideas, yummy recipes, and green living inspiration from so many others. So as part of my senior project I thought I might give blogging a go – in an effort to share ideas as well as further expand the knowledge of how permaculture can work, within the Salt Lake Valley. Warning: I am not a writer however I will do my best not to bore 🙂

*So what is permaculture…

I think one of the original founders, Bill Mollison said it best: “Permaculture is a philosophy of working with, rather than against nature; of protracted and thoughtful observation rather than protracted and thoughtless labour; of looking at plants and animals in all their functions, rather than treating any area as a single-product system”
